Laporta travels to the Netherlands to accompany Koeman at the funeral

The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, will travel tomorrow to the Netherlands to accompany Wembley hero Ronald Koeman at the funeral of his wife Bartina, which will be held in Laren. While the family faces the loss, the event will bring together former Dream Team teammates and figures from Dutch football.

The funeral will be held in the Dutch town of Laren. Bartina died on September 15 at the age of 65 from cancer.

Ronald Koeman announced the loss on his social media. He quoted: “With deep sadness, but also with great pride and love, we say goodbye to my beautiful wife, our beloved mother and grandmother.”

Presence of Dream Team legends

Former Dream Team teammates such as Pep Guardiola, José Mari Bakero and Txiki Begiristain are expected to attend. Dutch internationals who played with Koeman in the ‘the Oranje’ national team and former teammates from PSV Eindhoven, Ajax, Feyenoord and Groningen will also be present. Collaborator Lluís Canut, a close friend of Koeman, will also be there.

Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, will travel to the Netherlands to be with Koeman, his children and grandchildren during the ceremony. The visit takes place as part of an edition of the Koeman Cup, organized by deputy director Fernando Polo.
