LaLiga denounces assault on Camavinga with flag in El Clasico

During the final minutes of the latest El Clásico, LaLiga reported that in the 87th minute, when Real Madrid were celebrating their second goal, midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was assaulted with a flag by a fan at the Camp Nou of Barcelona's stadium.
Details of the assault
The incident occurred in the 87th minute, just as Real Madrid were celebrating the second goal, scored by Kylian Mbappé after a move initiated by Camavinga. Amid the euphoria, a fan seated in the animated stand threw a flag that struck the French midfielder. The assault was captured by the stadium cameras, although the official broadcast did not show the footage and removed the video.
From the area known as “Grada Gol 1957”, sections 23 and 24, several spectators threw bottles, cans, lighters and even a vape onto the pitch. The official report indicates that none of those objects reached the Real Madrid players, but the risk was sufficient to trigger security measures.
Institutional response
Referee Juan Martínez Munuera recorded the hostility in his report and activated the first phase of the protocol against object throwing. Through the Camp Nou loudspeaker system an urgent notice was issued for fans to cease violent behaviour. The match was stopped for one minute and twenty seconds to ensure safety.
LaLiga forwarded its incident report to the Disciplinary Committee and the Anti‑Violence Commission, describing the disturbances that marred the end of the match. The document underscores the seriousness of the physical assault and the barrage of projectiles, and requests the intervention of disciplinary authorities.
Possible sanctions
The host club, FC Barcelona, could face financial fines and the partial closure of the “Grada Gol 1957” as a corrective measure. The combination of object throwing and physical assault on the player is considered a serious infringement under the League’s regulations.
The episode comes in a difficult week for Barcelona, who have just suffered elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint‑Germain and a league defeat against their historic rivals, ending a run of nine consecutive wins. Real Madrid, for their part, reduced the gap in the table to three points.
With the case open, the Disciplinary Commission of the Spanish Football Federation will examine the evidence and decide the final sanctions. The Catalan club awaits the verdict to be able to focus its efforts on maintaining the lead in the League.
