Kylian Mbappé thanks Nike before joining On
Kylian Mbappé published on Saturday a farewell letter to Nike, the sponsor that has been with him since the age of seven, to announce his new contract with the Swiss brand On, partially owned by tennis legend Roger Federer, officially.
A seven‑year partnership
Nike began supporting the future champion at the age of seven, while he was playing in Bondy. The American giant dressed the young Kylian Mbappé from his debut at AS Monaco, and then throughout his progression to Real Madrid.
“I was seven when this story began. At that age, I had many dreams… For twenty years, Nike has accompanied me at every stage: the child from Bondy, my debut, my first big matches, my victories, my defeats, the French national team, the World Cup,” he said on his social media.
Over the years, both parties have created special models, including shoes signed by the 2018 world champion. “We created shoes that told my story, my dreams, my origins, and I am proud to see them on the feet of millions of children,” he added.
Mbappé refuses to extend his French career until age 41
Mbappé recalled never forgetting Nike's support, the people he met and those who believed in him before his fame. “I will never forget everything Nike has given me, paths diverge after twenty years, but this story is part of me,” he affirmed.
He concluded by thanking “the trust, the memories, these twenty years. I have always believed that one must have the courage to pursue one's dreams. Today, a new page of my story begins, and like a child, I still dream,” he wrote.
The new chapter with On
The previous Friday, the captain of the Bleus announced his commitment with On, a Swiss sports shoe brand. This split was formalised on Friday, marking the end of a two‑decade partnership.
On, partially owned by Roger Federer, represents for Mbappé a new adventure where he hopes to continue inspiring young people. The player expressed his enthusiasm at the idea of co‑creating new models under this banner.
