Kovár's masterclass in Leipzig thrills PSV fans
While Matej Kovár had already known several flatters, he perhaps delivered the best performance of his PSV period on Tuesday evening in the Red Bull Arena; a contrast that made both critics and fans reconsider.
Kovár’s performance in the Champions League challenge
PSV visited RB Leipzig in the second matchday of the Champions League. A tough game was expected and reality turned out no different, but after a quarter of an hour the Eindhoven side received a refereeing gift.
Ivan Perisic missed from the penalty spot, while the rest of the match went back and forth. The Germans dominated most chances, while the Dutch champion mainly had to wait for scarce moments.
After the match Eindhoven supporters praised Kovár on social media: “We are lucky with man of the match Kovár”, and called him a “masterclass”. Another fan stated: “Anyone who still doesn’t see that Kovár is the best PSV goalkeeper since Heurelho Gomes has no understanding of football at all.”
The Eindhovens Dagblad reporter confirmed that Kovár kept the best hour of his PSV career, while critics on X dropped their negative tone.
With the praise of Heel Eindhoven and the support of the Light City, the discussion about the Czech goalkeeper seems set to calm down for now.
