Kompany says Bayern have long managed Musiala’s health scares

On a bright Saturday at the Red Bull Arena, 23‑year‑old Jamal Musiala collapsed to the turf midway through Bayern Munich’s friendly against Leipzig, a scene that repeated on Tuesday against Heidenheim and left the German star visibly shaken.

Both matches – Leipzig on Saturday and Heidenheim on Tuesday – saw Musiala fall suddenly, prompting the club to investigate the cause. The young international later explained that the brief, temporary absences are “easily treatable” and stem from a neurological dysfunction, adding that there is “no additional health risk”.

“These brief and temporary absences, easily treatable, are part of my daily routine and are caused by a neurological dysfunction,” Musiala said, emphasizing that his condition does not endanger his health.

Club reassures ahead of Supercup

The club’s statement, titled “MusialaAujourd'hui”, quoted Vincent Kompany: “For the general public, this is the first time they see this information and they have many questions, which is completely normal. But we have been managing this for some time.” He added, “Ce moment de choc was already over for us.”

Kompany continued, “He had to change something in his treatment, which caused side effects. It happened once, then a second time. It is completely normal to try something different in a treatment.”

Sporting director Max Eberl said, “The players are all aware. For us, it has become something daily. The situation is not ideal for Jamal, but we are together and give him all the support he needs. We have known about it since last season and have acted accordingly.” He concluded that the treatment will be readjusted to bring Musiala back to the level he maintained for a long period without crises.

Precaution will be taken as Musiala will miss Bayern’s first official match of the season, the Franz‑Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion. “We have our procedure, we know how to handle it. He will train individually this week,” Kompany said, confirming the club’s plan for the German forward.
