Kompany’s Bayern Munich steamroll amateur side in viral friendly

Bayern Múnich opened its preseason with a 15‑0 demolition of FC Rottach‑Egern, an amateur side from Germany, in a friendly that quickly went viral. The match took place in the Alpine town of Tegernsee, about 53 kilometres north of Munich, under temperatures that approached 40 °C.

The Bavarians were coached by Vincent Kompany, who routinely selects Rottach‑Egern as a test opponent before the start of the official competition. Kompany used the fixture to trial new players and gauge fitness levels ahead of the Bundesliga campaign.

The game was staged in Tegernsee, a small resort locality that provided a picturesque backdrop for the encounter. The heat was a constant factor, with the official Bayern summary noting the temperature hovered around 40 °C throughout the 80‑minute contest.

A striking side‑note involved Lukas Pätzold, the club’s treasurer and a police officer in the Bavarian city of Rottach. When a local player suffered an injury, Pätzold, aged about 50, entered the field wearing the number 19 jersey while the score read 12‑0.

Bayern’s attack opened the scoring after just eight minutes when Flip Pavic found the net, and the visitors were already 6‑0 up by the final whistle of the first half. The early barrage set the tone for a match in which Rottach‑Egern never created a clear scoring chance.

Arijon Ibrahimovic and Felipe Chávez each added two goals, while Brazilian youngster Mayson Cardozo contributed a header. Subsequent strikes came from Armindo Sieb, Bara Ndayie, Bastian Assomo, Aleksandar Pavlović, Joshua Kimmich and teenager Skender Nuraj, completing the 15‑goal tally.

The line‑up featured seasoned professionals such as goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, defender Minjae Kim and midfielder Tom Bischof, alongside loanees returning from abroad – Sacha Boey, João Palhinha, Ibrahimovic and Armindo Sieb. Nathaniel Brown made his debut for Bayern during the second half.

Notably absent were stars Manuel Neuer, Michael Olise and Harry Kane, who were rested as the squad focused on building cohesion rather than fielding a full‑strength XI.

Looking ahead, Bayern will travel on Saturday night for the Audi Summer Tour 2026, where they are scheduled to face Jeju SK FC of South Korea on 4 August and Aston Villa in Hong Kong on 7 August, continuing their preparation for the upcoming season.
