Kluivert's Lyon under pressure after first competitive defeat at Lens
On Friday evening Olympique Lyon suffered its first competitive defeat of the season, when they lost away at RC Lens. The result puts the current second place in Ligue 1 under heavy pressure, while Ruben Kluivert spent the entire match in the central midfield position for Lyon.
Lens dominates and ends unbeaten run
Lens took the initiative in the first half and were rewarded after 36 minutes when Florian Sotoca took the ball on the chest and then neatly scored.
Fifteen minutes before the end Lens doubled the lead from a free kick, with Matthieu Udol scoring. Shortly afterwards Udol was immediately shown a red card for a hard tackle on the Achilles tendon of Khalid Merah.
Fonseca sees Lyon cede to Lens and lose Openda
Khalid Merah made it 2‑1 a minute later, meaning Lens had to endure the tension, but they held on and took the three points.
Ruben Kluivert remained in the central midfield position for Lyon throughout the whole match, but could not turn the loss around.

With the victory Lens climbs to seventh place in Ligue 1, while Lyon remains in second place and this weekend threatens to be overtaken by Paris FC, Lille and Stade Rennes.
