Klopp’s Red Bull exit paves path to German national team
At 19:41 today, Jürgen Klopp told German streaming service MagentaTV that he had reached an agreement with Red Bull on the terms of his departure from the Austrian group, a development announced only a few hours before the World Cup final.
The deal with Red Bull sets out the conditions for Klopp’s exit from the Austrian concern, effectively removing the final obstacle to a possible appointment as head coach of the German national team.
During the interview with MagentaTV, Klopp described the arrangement as a “generous agreement” and added that a parallel contract with the German Football Association (DFB) is now within reach.
“It is not yet definitive, but the talks are moving in the right direction,” he said.
With little left to impede him, Klopp is positioned to replace Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after Germany’s surprising round‑of‑16 defeat to Paraguay at the World Cup.
The German FA announced its preference for Klopp on the same day Nagelsmann left and earlier this month disclosed a “framework agreement” with the English manager.
Klopp, who guided Liverpool to Premier League triumph, has been without a club for two seasons since departing Anfield, while serving as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, a sponsor of several clubs worldwide.
An earlier analysis on VI PRO examined Germany’s elimination by Paraguay, underscoring how the timing of the coaching discussions coincided with the nation’s World Cup exit.
