Kingsley Ehizibue joins Genoa CFC and asks for forgiveness
The 31‑year‑old Dutchman Kingsley Ehizibue, formerly of 1 FC Köln and most recently with Udinese Calcio, has signed a contract with the Italian club Genoa CFC and humorously asks for forgiveness in an official statement for having turned down an earlier offer.
Previous Rejection and New Transfer
The former Köln player explained that he had already received an initial offer from Genoa, which he rejected at the time. After his contract with Udinese expired in the summer, he now chose the move to Genoa and signed, according to club statements, a multi‑year contract. The decision came after lengthy consideration, with him emphasizing that his perspective had changed.
In his career, Ehizibue has so far amassed 365 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 21 assists. At 1 FC Köln he made 76 appearances with one goal and three assists, at Udinese 119 league matches with four goals and two assists, and at PEC Zwolle 135 appearances with nine goals and 16 assists.
"As a faithful person, this is the best way to ask for forgiveness after I pulled back years ago when I was confronted with the then offer," Ehizibue said in a club statement. Genoa's sporting director Diego Lopez added: "Ehizibue brings speed, immense stamina and knowledge of the league – that is a clear plus for our team."
1 FC Köln received a transfer fee of €2 million for Ehizibue's initial departure; three years later a payment of €1.5 million from Italy followed. The new contract includes, according to the club, premium‑service provisions and a video profile for the media, with the transfer process being supported by the involved companies.
Genoa plans to integrate the 31‑year‑old right‑back into the starting eleven immediately to strengthen the defence in the upcoming league season. The club sees his athleticism and adaptability as a key component to remain competitive in Serie B.
The news was disseminated through the usual transfer channels and sparked numerous rumors in club forums. Market values, competitions and statistics were discussed by the community, while player agents and advisory support firms provided analysis for their clients. Premium‑service offers, video highlights and the latest rumor‑mill posts spread across all forums and news portals. The official market‑value analysis confirmed the player's worth, and sports‑betting operators closely monitored the Genoa transfer activity. The update was last published on 03 September 2026 at 22:06, with the announcement resonating strongly both in the Bundesliga community and in the Italian Udine environment.
