Kevin Großkreutz marvels at a former Dortmund player's promotion

Kevin Großkreutz expresses great admiration for former Dortmund player Karim Adeyemi in the podcast “Quarter Hour Football”, who has been causing a stir since his summer transfer to FC Barcelona. According to the BVB icon, Adeyemi is already an indispensable player for the Catalans and could now be worth around sixty million euros.

Former Dortmund player dazzles in Spain

Karim Adeyemi moved in the summer from Borussia Dortmund to FC Barcelona. In eight appearances he scored three goals and provided three assists, leading the La Liga table without having dropped a point so far. The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo praised his dribbling strength, speed and game vision as a sign of “enormous quality”.

Großkreutz's praise in the podcast

In conversation with Corni Küpper, Großkreutz said: “Respect, though. No one expected it. Everyone thought: ‘He won’t play there anyway.’ Yeah – what a load of crap! He is now impossible to imagine the game without him.” He added that he himself was surprised at the level Adeyemi is playing at for Barcelona. Großkreutz estimates that the winger is already worth sixty million euros.

Controversy over sustainability

Küpper questions the sustainability of Adeyemi's meteoric rise and suggests that against weaker opponents he would not shine as he does at Barcelona. Despite these doubts, the DFB national coach Jürgen Klopp shows full confidence: Adeyemi was selected for the international matches against Serbia on 1 October and Greece on 4 October, which gives him a new chance in the national jersey after not being selected for the World Cup in North America.

BVB rumors about a 15‑year‑old talent

Parallel to the discussions about Adeyemi, the BVB‑News‑Portal reports a possible transfer target: the 15‑year‑old Moroccan Ilyas Houira from FC Copenhagen is said to be on Borussia Dortmund's radar. According to Tipsbladet, besides BVB, Ajax Amsterdam, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in the young player, as are clubs from France and Spain.

The transfer windows are currently closed, but the Dortmund side keeps its eye on future reinforcements, while Großkreutz continues to follow Adeyemi's performances.
