Karim Adeyemi's Barcelona dream drives his early call-up in Germany

Karim Adeyemi arrived at the Germany national team training camp feeling like he was living the dream start to his spell at FC Barcelona, and the new coach Jürgen Klopp has already included him in the squad list.

Brilliant start at Barça

Since his signing, the striker has delivered a spectacular start as a blaugrana, scoring two goals and providing three assists in seven matches. That output has not gone unnoticed by observers of the Catalan club.

Klopp's call-up

The German coach split his first list into two groups: the “A” list, which will contest the first two Nations League matches, and the “B” list, intended for the next two fixtures during the international break. Adeyemi was placed on the “A” list, guaranteeing his presence in the matches against the Netherlands on Thursday at 20:45 and against Greece on Sunday at 20:45.

Change of plans and replacements

Originally, Adeyemi was scheduled for the third and fourth matchdays, against Serbia on October 1 and against Greece on Sunday the 4th. However, Bayern Munich midfielder Lennart Karl suffered issues that forced him onto the “B” list. As a result, Adeyemi’s inclusion was moved forward and he will now train with the national team this Monday.

In the same call-up, the presence of Barça goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen, on loan at Ajax, was also confirmed, and he will be part of the group for the first two fixtures.

Among the Barça players who also attended the camp, Ferran Torres said: “The only one I can’t bring is Pedri.” For his part, Raphinha commented: “Lamine has to win the Ballon d’Or, no matter what.”

Roger Torelló, Barça’s head of department, was present at the camp and confirmed that the decision to move Adeyemi forward stems from the need to balance the German squad’s physical loads.

Adeyemi’s future in the subsequent matches remains open; it has not yet been decided whether he will feature in the home fixture against Serbia and the second clash with Greece, scheduled for the next Nations League window.
