Kane slows fast FC Bayern contract extension after Champions League win
Harry Kane, the striker star, sees no quick agreement in sight despite speculation about a swift contract extension at FC Bayern – he is putting the brakes on because he does not expect a solution in the next or the following week, after the 5-0 win over FK Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League on Thursday.
Extension dialogue and time horizon
"I don't expect it to be done in the next or the following week," Kane said after the 5-0 win. He added that he wants to achieve the desired result within the next one to two months.
Kane emphasized that he has not set a fixed deadline and quoted: "I haven't set any deadline for myself, anyway." He added that the talks are still going well. The 33-year-old striker star is "completely relaxed" and is focusing solely on the sporting side.
His current contract expires next summer; talks about an extension until at least 2029 are underway. This could allow him to remain active at FC Bayern for several more years.
Appreciation from both sides and outlook
Both the club and Kane have repeatedly emphasized their mutual appreciation. The player had already stated that the outlook for the future looks "quite good," and said: "I am very happy."
Sporting director Max Eberl added that he does not know what would be against a contract extension, and saw no obstacles. Thus the negotiation basis remains positive.
The juxtaposition of rapid rumours and Kane's realistic time assessment shows that, despite public expectations, the talks are progressing at a leisurely pace. The next one to two months will decide whether the desired agreement materialises.
