Kane saves Bayern with crucial goal, Saibari key
In the second minute of the match, Harry Kane delivered the decisive goal for Bayern Munich, after Ismaël Saibari had earlier provided a dangerous cross. The English top scorer struck the ball into the short corner and gave the Bavarian club a hard‑fought victory away at Elversberg.
Bayern's recent dip and need for recovery
Update: Bayern Munich escaped with relief on the road at promoted side Elversberg. The team came under pressure already after two minutes, but recovered quickly. Kane's early goal gave the Bavarian side a much‑needed lead.
Last week Bayern, after sixty‑seven consecutive matchdays as league leaders of the Bundesliga, suddenly fell into the lower top‑half. That was due to the goalless draw against promoted side Schalke 04. The defeat gave Vincent Kompany a chance for redemption.
Saibari started in the lineup and delivered from the left the cross that Kane further touched, after which Lennart Karl made it 0‑1 for Elversberg. The young playmaker was left open at the second post to tap it in. Despite the early deficit, the Record Champions remained under pressure.
Maurice Krattenmacher found the equaliser in the top corner after an hour, bringing the score to 1‑1. It was a moment when Bayern got back on level.
Attacking impulse and Kane's strike
Kompany decided to introduce attacking cannons: Jamal Musiala, Luis Díaz and Joshua Kimmich came on, causing Saibari to leave the field after more than an hour. The attacking machine from Bavaria linked the chances, and Michael Olise hit the post with a fine strike.
Then it was on target, of course via Kane. The English top scorer freed himself and then smashed it into the short corner, his first Bundesliga goal of the new season, and saved Bayern from another loss of points.
Earlier this week Bayern recorded a convincing 5‑0 win over Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League. On Friday Union Berlin is the next opponent in the Bundesliga.
