Kane’s Premier League hopes fade as he embraces Bayern Munich

Since joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, England captain Harry Kane (Il) has been repeatedly linked with a Premier League return, a move that could edge him toward Alan Shearer’s historic 260‑goal mark. The speculation has lingered ever since his transfer from Tottenham, keeping fans and pundits guessing about his future.

Present to the press on Wednesday, the former Tottenham striker confirmed that a return to the English top flight had long been on his mind. He explained that the idea of playing again in the Premier League once seemed inevitable.

The prospect of returning to England (Angleterre) would have brought the captain of the Three Lions closer to the record set by Alan Shearer, who scored 260 goals in the Premier League.

Changing ambition after settling in Germany

"Quand I left, I was convinced I would return to the Premier League, without doubt. But that desire is no longer as strong," the striker said. "I am extremely happy here, in Munich. It opened my eyes to a completely different kind of football and made me appreciate European football even more," he added.

He praised the Bayern project, noting the quality of the squad and the guidance of the coach. He also said his family has settled well, making Munich the best place for him at the moment.

Discussions about a contract extension are expected to start soon, indicating the club’s desire to keep him long‑term. Kane stressed that he is focusing on Bayern for now and will let the future unfold in its own time.
