Kane's penalty shatters Bundesliga record, eclipsing a 1977 legend
Harry Kane's penalty against Union Berlin on Friday night in September gave him his 100th German Bundesliga goal in just 98 games, a feat achieved 31 games faster than any predecessor.
A record that eclipses a half‑century milestone
The previous benchmark belonged to German legend Dieter Muller, who needed 129 matches to reach 100 goals for FC Cologne back in 1977. Kane’s 100th came in his 98th appearance for Bayern Munich, shattering that long‑standing record by a wide margin.
Kane adds more milestones at Bayern
He also became the quickest Bayern player to reach 150 club goals, doing so in 153 games, a pace only Cristiano Ronaldo beat when he hit the same tally for Real Madrid in 149 games. On the same Friday evening he set a new Bundesliga record for reaching 150 goals faster than anyone before.
Kane’s stay at Bayern forces Barcelona to chase Haaland
Kane now scores a Bundesliga goal every 78.5 minutes, a rate superior to both Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski. After his penalty, he added a second strike – a header from Michael Olise’s floated delivery – as Bayern continued to pile misery on the visitors.
The England captain moved to Germany from Tottenham in 2023 for £100 million and has been Bayern’s anchorman ever since. At 33, he has 213 Premier League goals, with Alan Shearer still ahead on 260. Kane told reporters earlier this year he is "no rush" to leave Bayern, saying he is "very happy" and enjoys the situation.
He will join the Three Lions for their first international break since the World Cup next week, marking another chapter in a season that has already seen him rewrite the record books for both Bayern Munich and the German Bundesliga.
