Kane breaks historic record as England seeks redemption
While the England national team tries to overcome the defeat to Spain that cost them points, Harry Kane has turned the international break into a personal showcase, scoring six goals in the four Nations League matches and reaching 125 appearances with the Three Lions.
On the latest FIFA date, England arrived at Wembley to face the Czech Republic, after having won 2-0 in Prague a few days earlier. The only loss in the stretch, against Spain, had left the team eager to close the break on a high note.
Record of appearances and goals
The English striker matched Peter Shilton's record by playing his 125th match for the national team, becoming the player with the most official appearances for the Three Lions. He debuted in March 2015 against Lithuania, coming off the bench and scoring the following minute.
With 91 goals in those 125 games, Kane is England's all‑time top scorer, surpassing the second‑placed Wayne Rooney, who netted 53 in 120 matches. He is followed by Bobby Charlton (49) and Gary Lineker (48), all far below the striker's tally.

Big win against the Czech Republic
At Wembley, England won comfortably: an own goal by Vladimír Coufal opened the scoring and Kane sealed the victory with a brace, his second consecutive for the national team. The result cemented the team's superiority during the break.
As in previous matches, Kane was substituted after his performance, coming off at the 70th, 71st, 82nd or 83rd minute depending on the game, which shows the careful management of his minutes with the Three Lions.
Outlook and future
In the calendar year 2026, Kane has already scored 13 goals for England and aims to surpass the 16 he netted in 2021. In the 2026/27 season, he has added 12 goals and has kept a run of seven consecutive matches scoring for both Bayern Munich and the national team.
