Kane and Neuer face contract crossroads as Bayern eye future

Bayern München opened the season with the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, beating Borussia Dortmund 2‑1, but both Harry Kane and veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer remain in contract limbo as the English striker heads into the final year of his deal and the 40‑year‑old keeper approaches a possible last season.

The club faces a strategic gap: Kane, who was unleashed last year, still has a year left on his contract that runs until mid‑2027, while Neuer is on a one‑year deal that may be his final campaign.

Kane, the Englishman (Engelsman), featured in 51 matches last season and was on target 61 times, making him indispensable in Vincent Kompany’s formation. After the Super Cup, he said, “We will talk this week and next week together. It will just be an open conversation. We have no rush and we won’t panic.”

He added, “My full focus is on Bayern München and the upcoming season. The talks are happening behind the scenes. You will hear it if there is something to report.”

Manuel Neuer, the 40‑year‑old goalkeeper, is expected to be in his last season and also has a one‑year contract. In a post‑match interview he remarked, “Now is the time to enjoy the team of this season, and then we’ll see further. But yes, it may be the last.”

Van Neuer’s situation has been described as “in the line of expectation” that he may be finishing his career, and De veertigjarige doelman (the forty‑year‑old goalkeeper) reiterated that sentiment after the match.

Both stars have refrained from giving definitive answers, leaving Bayern to manage the upcoming weeks of dialogue while keeping the squad focused on the season ahead.
