Juventus’ transfer plans stall as Cabal spurns Bologna loan

Juventus’ transfer plans stall as Cabal spurns Bologna loan

Juventus are desperate to clear a squad bottleneck, and a loan to Bologna could free a valuable roster spot, yet Juan Cabal has turned down the move, leaving the TURIN club frustrated as the transfer window stalls and jeopardising plans to replace departing stars.

Transfer strategy hampered by stubborn players

The summer has largely been one of renewal in Turin, but Juventus directors are irritated that some unwanted players are blocking their transfer strategy. Jonathan David has so far rebuffed attempts at a sale, and La dello Sport claim that Cabal is infuriating the Juve directors.

The 25‑year‑old Colombian was bought from Hellas Verona in 2024 for €12.8 million plus add‑ons, yet he has struggled to make his mark with the Old Lady. A costly red card in the Champions League play‑off against Galatasaray in February led coach Luciano Spalletti to abandon him completely.

Since that incident Cabal has not featured a single minute under Spalletti. He managed only 19 competitive appearances last term and none in the last six months.

Despite the obvious rejection, Cabal is not prepared to accept a loan move to Bologna, nor does he appear eager to find another club. Juventus hope the deal would relieve squad pressure, but his stance leaves the option on hold.

Cabal’s situation highlighted in Serie A clash

On FEBRUARY 08, 2026, Gustav Isaksen of SS Lazio competed for the ball with Cabal of Juventus FC during a Serie A match at the Juventus stadium in TURIN, ITALY. The image was captured by Marco Rosi for SS Lazio/Getty Images.

With the loan window closing, Juventus may have to force a move or risk keeping an idle player on the payroll, a scenario that continues to irritate the club’s hierarchy. The directors have publicly expressed their frustration, hoping to resolve the impasse before the window shuts.
