Juventus’ transfer gamble hinges on David’s exit and Zirkzee’s arrival

Juventus’ summer transfer sprint shows two contrasting dilemmas: the club has already secured a defender from Bologna and a goalkeeper from Tottenham, yet the fate of Canadian striker Jonathan David remains undecided, a decision that could trigger the arrival of Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.

New arrivals complement early signings

The latest additions are a defender who previously played for Bologna and a goalkeeper formerly of Tottenham. They join the four early‑summer signings: Ekhator from Genoa, free‑agent Celik who left Roma, Kolo Muani arriving from PSG, and Alajbegovic arriving from Bayer Leverkusen.

Negotiations continue at the Continassa facilities, where Juventus aim to fine‑tune the roster during the final weeks of the window. The club’s focus remains on strengthening the attacking options.

David’s future shapes attack

Everything in attack will largely depend on the future of Canadian striker Jonathan David. Should the forward depart, Juventus plan to replace him with Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, pushing current forwards Carnevali and Massara down the pecking order.

The ex‑Bologna defender has not featured a single minute in the weekend friendly against Milan and could be loaned back to Old Trafford by 1 September. Juventus executives have already lined up the 25‑year‑old Dutchman for a possible move.

Juventus does not act in isolation; the club’s strategy hinges on David, with several English clubs reportedly gathering information on the Canadian forward.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti hopes to refresh the midfield, targeting the free‑agent Franck Kessie as the first name on his list. Kessie continues to wait for ‘the Lady’, while alternatives such as Fofana from Milan are also being considered.

The final days of the window are decisive for a new defensive signing, with scouting focused on left‑back candidates. Former Milan target Tomori remains a historic favourite of Juventus technical director Ricky Massara.

Amid the transfer frenzy, Juventus also complies with UE data‑protection regulations, as outlined in the club’s privacy notice.
