Juventus saves €4 million on Arthur as it gears up for a transfer blitz

Juve have confirmed the departure of midfielder Arthur, a move that frees a squad spot and saves roughly €4 million, while the club simultaneously lines up a series of new signings to reshape the roster before the transfer window closes.

Arthur’s exit, still awaiting official confirmation, marks the first outgoing move after a period of stagnation in Juventus’ transfer market, a market that had been described as blocked like a summer highway.

Il divorzio does not bring fresh cash but cuts the wage bill by about €4 million, roughly half the gross extra‑large salary of the former Barcelona midfielder who arrived in Torino in 2020 for €80 million in the swap with Miralem Pjanic.

Arthur has not been seen at the Continassa training ground for two days, and his departure opens a locker and a place in the squad list.

Club officials Giovanni Carnevali, coach Ricky Massara and sporting director Marco Ottolini see the cut as the first step toward a final shopping spree, after already adding Ekhator, Celik, Kolo Muani, Alajbegovic, Lucumi and Vicario.

Targeted signings for the next eleven days

In the next eleven days Juventus aim to sign a midfielder – free‑agent Franck Kessie, with German international Leon Goretzka as an alternative – a striker in Dutch forward Romelu Zirkzee and a left‑back to rotate with Andrea Cambiaso, with Hugo Bueno mentioned as a preferred option.

A backup goalkeeper could also be added if Mattia Perin reaches an agreement with Palermo, while surplus players such as Nico Gonzalez, who returned from a loan at Atletico, are expected to leave.

Financing the final push

La Juventus have already invested more than €100 million net of bonuses and intend to complete the project by selling or loaning players before buying, ensuring the refinements are self‑financed.

The club’s strategy also lists further departures – Teun Koopmeiners, Jonathan David and Juan Cabal – to free up space for arrivals like Kessie, Zirkzee and a left‑back, possibly Spanish Hugo Bueno or a low‑cost loan such as Emerson Palmieri from Marseille, a former Spalletti disciple at Roma.

Midfield remains the only area without a fresh signing, with Douglas Luiz the sole new name after a disappointing loan spell in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, while the Dutch joker Koopmeiners has fallen out of favour following Jhon Lucumi’s arrival.

The contrast between Arthur’s wage‑saving exit and Juventus’ aggressive inbound plan shows the club refuses to pause, seeking multiple replacements to balance the books and strengthen the squad before the window shuts.
