Juventus rely on Redondo’s revival as they face Häcken

Juventus travel to Sweden for their UEFA Women’s Champions League group game against Häcken after a disappointing opening league‑phase defeat to Benfica. The Italian side hope forward Alba Redondo, who arrived from Real Madrid this summer, can fill the goal‑scoring void; she has already netted six times in all competitions.

Redondo’s summer arrival and early impact

Alba Redondo joined Juventus this summer, leaving Real Madrid where she admitted her final period in Spain “was not her best”. Within weeks she recorded six goals, a tally she describes as a consequence of collective work rather than individual brilliance. “My main objective in coming to Juve was to have another opportunity to go back to being the Alba people hadn’t seen for a while,” she explained.

Redondo stresses that the season has only just begun and that consistency, especially as a team, will matter more than any personal target. She refuses to set a numerical goal tally, saying it is “secondary” to rediscovering herself and contributing to the squad.

Juventus seek redemption after Benfica setback

The loss to Benfica was decided by “two or three moments we didn’t make count”, who believes the performance did not reflect the quality on display. She added that Juventus maintained their attacking philosophy and that the defeat does not alter their approach ahead of the Häcken match.

Juventus’ coach has not altered the team’s tactics, and Redondo feels the squad remains “important, loved, confident and happy”. She hopes the upcoming game will yield three points while allowing her to add to her goal tally.

Häcken test and familiar faces

Häcken, last season’s UEFA Women’s Europa Cup winners, present a fresh challenge. Redondo knows former Levante teammate Estela Carbonell well, noting that “she knows me perfectly, and I know her”, which she believes gives Juventus an edge.

When asked what scoring against Häcken would mean, Redondo put the club first: “The most important thing is getting the three points while playing in the way we believe in and trust”. She added she would be “super happy” to keep contributing goals.

Looking ahead, Redondo says her ambition is to go “as far as possible with this shirt” and to be recognised as “Alba Redondo, the Alba Redondo everyone knows”. She concludes that the Häcken trip is “another step in saying, we’re still here”, not a decisive match, with a long season still ahead.
