Juventus hedge with Atubolu as Suzuki deal stalls in Turin

Juventus have added Noah Atubolu, the Freiburg goalkeeper, to their goalkeeping shortlist as an alternative to Zion Suzuki. Atubolu is out of contract and has placed all other options on hold while hoping for a chance in Turin.

Juventus have kept clean sheets in pre‑season matches against Basel, Nice, Standard Liège and Chelsea, yet they still lack a settled first‑choice goalkeeper. The club therefore view Atubolu’s experience, including a Europa League final appearance and reputation as a penalty‑stopper, as valuable.

Their primary target remains Japanese international Zion Suzuki, whose move to Juventus depends on Paris Saint‑Germain reaching an agreement with Parma and then arranging a loan. Suzuki is also being courted by PSG and is hesitant to commit permanently to Paris because of competition for places.

Luciano Spalletti has declared Michele Di Gregorio surplus and expressed doubts over Guglielmo Vicario, questioning why Tottenham would release him. A parallel option, Lucas Chevalier, discussed alongside Kolo Muani negotiations, has cooled.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atubolu was a Europa League finalist last season and is noted for his penalty‑saving ability. He has kept every other potential destination on hold, waiting for an opening at Juventus.

For now Atubolu remains an alternative rather than the priority, but Juventus keep him firmly in view should the Suzuki deal stall. The outcome of the PSG‑Parma negotiations will determine whether the Japanese player joins Turin or the club turns to the Freiburg goalkeeper.
