Juventus eye West Ham defender as Hammers grapple with relegation
JuventusWant SignThis WestHamPlayerShould HammersApprove as West Ham United scramble to keep French centre‑back Jean‑Clair Todibo after their relegation to the Championship leaves a defensive void they cannot afford to widen. The East London club faces a massive fight to retain prized assets while rebuilding for an instant promotion push.
Reports out of Italy indicate that Juventus are ready to move for the defender, preferring an initial loan that would exploit the financial realities of second‑tier English football. According to La dello Sport, relayed via Transfer Feed, the Turin giants have placed Todibo near the top of their defensive wishlist.
Juventus had shown interest in Todibo two years ago before he completed a permanent move to West Ham from OGC Nice in July 2025. That earlier pursuit means the Italian side already know his talent and see the current situation as an opportunity to reopen the file.

Todibo signed a contract running to 2027 after West Ham paid roughly €42 million for his transfer. The market value listed by Transfermarkt has since fallen to about €22.2 million, almost half of the original outlay, reflecting the financial penalty of relegation.
Opta data shows he made 23 Premier League appearances in the 2025/26 season, totalling 1,819 minutes, contributing one assist, receiving five bookings and a red card in a 3‑2 loss at Chelsea. A calf strain kept him out for March 2026, further hampering his momentum.
West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the board face a crucial decision. While off‑loading his high wages might ease the club’s reduced television revenue, loaning him to Juventus would strip the Hammers of one of the best central defenders in England and could jeopardise their promotion bid.
If a sale becomes unavoidable, the winter window in January offers the most realistic chance to negotiate, but for now Nuno is expected to keep Todibo at the London Stadium and reject any loan that would benefit a rival club.
