Just €130 million gamble: Real Madrid eye Bundesliga winger
Real Madrid are set to complete the €130 million transfer of Bundesliga winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, a move that would make him the club’s fifth and most expensive summer signing, with an announcement expected imminently as speculation swirls over Vinicius Jr.’s future.
Ramon Alvarez confirmed that terms have been agreed and the clubs have reached an understanding on the main points of the transfer, suggesting the announcement could be imminent.
The journalist noted Real Madrid handled the Diomande deal with a great deal of discretion and that the Ivorian winger is ready to move to the Bernabeu.
Alvarez added that Real were fully aware of the offers Liverpool and PSG had made, as well as Leipzig’s demands, and have manoeuvred themselves into a commanding position.
He also said the only surprise would be if Diomande did not end up at the Bernabeu, with the player expected to sign a contract until 2031 for a fee in the €120‑130 million range.
PSG expressed anger after missing out, having believed the deal was all but done before Real’s late and silent entry turned the situation on its head.
Real Madrid are also planning two further reinforcements, including a starting‑quality centre‑back high on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist, as they assess their squad ahead of the new season.
The transfer comes amid ongoing speculation over Vinicius Jr.’s future, with his contract due to expire at the end of next season and the coming weeks crucial for deciding his long‑term role.
For Real Madrid, Diomande provides a high‑profile attacking option and marks a significant investment as they reshape the squad; for Diomande, the move secures a long‑term contract at the Bernabeu and delivers a substantial fee to RB Leipzig.
