Jürgen Klopp: two years away from Liverpool, hasn't missed coaching

Ahead of the Germany‑Greece match on the fourth matchday of the Nations League, the German national team manager Jürgen Klopp said at a press conference that his two‑year break after leaving Liverpool in 2024 did not make him miss the coaching profession at all.

Two‑year break

“No, no, nothing has changed,” Jürgen Klopp affirmed when he was asked about his two‑year break after his departure from Liverpool in 2024. He added “Honestly, I didn’t miss it at all” during the press conference.

He said he realized he still loves what he does, even though he didn’t miss it during the hiatus. “It seems I’m a very clever guy: if I don’t do something, I don’t miss it,” he explained. “If I do it, I realize how much I love it.”

The 59‑year‑old tactician is now the German national team manager. His presence at the press conference preceded the Germany versus Greece match, the fourth matchday of the Nations League.

Klopp also mentioned his role as Global Football Director with Red Bull, noting that he was quite busy during the period when he wasn’t coaching. This position allowed him to stay active in football.

He concluded by stating “Leave to come back better.” This phrase sums up his mindset after the break.

Klopp’s remarks were made before the Germany‑Greece match, highlighting his enthusiasm to resume his duties as national team manager.
