Jürgen Klopp laughs after first win, remains completely mysterious

Jürgen Klopp celebrated his first match as head coach of the German national team with a 2-0 win against Serbia. The team impressed in the first mandatory round, and the coach subsequently answered the journalists' questions in good spirits. He appeared satisfied, although he emphasized that the team still had a lot to improve.

At the press conference he was asked how he would celebrate the first win with Germany. In his typical style he replied laughing: “No idea. I have never won a match as a national team coach. In club football I would know better.”

When he then jokingly asked for beer in the team bus, it sparked laughter. The coach emphasized that he was focusing more on the sporting work.

Then he switched to a more serious tone and praised the solid defensive work of his team. At the same time he highlighted the creativity on the ball and saw it as a key to success.

Press conference: Humor and analysis

Another journalist asked him to assess the gegenpressing. Klopp explained: “We can take any risk in the world when our gegenpressing is running at full throttle. And it did. It was exceptionally good.”

Next up is the return match against Greece. The game will take place next Sunday at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki and is the final match of the long international break.
