Jürgen Klopp impressed by Anton Stach's free kick and Instagram

Jürgen Klopp impressed by Anton Stach's free kick and Instagram

DFB team Anton Stach will attract attention under Jürgen Klopp – the German international is considered one of the most dangerous free‑kick takers in England and combines his on‑field performance with a humorous Instagram presence.

On the Pitch: Free‑kick and Performance

Stach made his Bundesliga debut in the 21/22 season for 1. FSV Mainz 05 and, after 30 2. Bundesliga appearances for Fürth, immediately established himself as a regular. After his national team debut in March 2022, he moved to Hoffenheim, where he stayed until the summer of 2025, before joining Leeds United in the Premier League.

In his first season at Leeds, Stach featured in 29 league matches and scored the 1‑0 winning goal against Nottingham Forest on the opening day. Together with Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool FC, he is regarded as one of the most dangerous free‑kick takers in the Premier League, with only Szoboszlai able to match him with four goals.

Off the Pitch: Social Media and Charity

Outside the field, Stach stands out for quirky Instagram posts and strong social commitment. The 27‑year‑old midfielder edits match‑day pictures into Super‑Mario, singer Pitbull or as a long jumper, and uses the platform to generate attention.

Together with the local burger restaurant “Meat:Stack”, he promotes the “Anton Stach Moustachi Cheeseburger”, whose sale of two pounds per unit goes to the Elhadj‑Diouf‑Foundation (EDF), which supports the education of children in Senegal. “I think it’s a great way for people to buy a burger and at the same time do something good for the world,” Stach explained.

National Team and Future under Jürgen Klopp

National team coach Jürgen Klopp called up Stach from Leeds United to the XXL squad of the German national team, giving him the chance to prove himself under the new manager. When asked about his goals in a Sky interview, Stach replied: “The only thing I can do is deliver.”

Under his predecessor Nagelsmann, Stach was seen by many experts as a candidate for the 2026 World Cup, but was cut from the provisional squad. Now, with Klopp at the helm, he could take on a central role in the international competition.
