Julian Brandt's BVB farewell earns a special award at Ajax
Julian Brandt was honored on Wednesday afternoon after training at Ajax Amsterdam with the Lasse‑Schöne‑Trophy, because his goal in the 35th minute against Fortuna Sittard was crowned Goal of the Month for September. The strike gave Ajax a clear 5:1 away victory on the sixth matchday of the Eredivisie.

On the club’s website it was announced that his strike in September was chosen as Goal of the Month, with two of his own goals featuring in the fan vote and the goal against Fortuna Sittard narrowly beating the goal against Willem II.
Strong season start at the new club
Since his move to the Netherlands, the 30‑year‑old former BVB star has scored five goals in his first ten league matches. The awarded strike against Fortuna Sittard was his fourth season goal and came in his ninth appearance for Ajax. Before the transfer, Brandt spent seven years at Borussia Dortmund and left the Dortmund club free of a transfer fee last summer.
Coach Miguel Ángel Sánchez Muñoz praised the German newcomer after another 5:1 win, this time against Willem II Tilburg. “He is an incredible footballer,” he said, adding: “It is certainly no coincidence that the players around him play better.”
The September Goal award confirms how smoothly Brandt’s move from Dortmund to Amsterdam has proceeded so far. For the star, the accolade represents an official recognition of his almost perfect start at the new club.
While fans in Dortmund are still debating the departure of the Dortmund virtuoso, Ajax supporters are already celebrating his technical brilliance. The comparison shows that Brandt’s contribution makes an immediate impact both at home and abroad.
