Julián Álvarez ends long‑standing partnership, seeks new adviser
The Argentinian striker Julián Álvarez has ended, off the pitch, the almost ten‑year partnership with his long‑time agent Fernando Hidalgo and is now looking for a new representative, with the discussions about the choice of replacement being conducted by his father Gustavo Álvarez.
Javier Pastore Agency as Favorite
As a favorite, an agency linked to Javier Pastore is considered. No agreement has been signed yet, but the option currently appears the most likely.
The summer was turbulent, as the 26‑year‑old player's future was among the most discussed topics in Spain. Barcelona offered around €100 million, but Atlético Madrid rejected the transfer.
In the 2026/27 season, Álvarez started markedly worse than in the pre‑season. Health issues and the unrest surrounding a possible transfer limited him to four appearances and 83 minutes for Atlético Madrid.
He scored his first goal of the season during the Argentine national team’s training camp in the match against Burkina Faso. The goal came in a friendly that does not count towards official league matches.
Álvarez’s contract with Atlético Madrid runs until June 2030, so the club is not under pressure to sell. However, the player could again consider a move if he does not regularly secure a place in the squad.
A new agent could play an important role in this, as Álvarez still commands a very high market value. After the summer transfer saga, his name has been linked to Arsenal as well as Barcelona.
