Jobard compares Doué to Michael Jordan after his Belgium leader role

Stéphane Jobard, former assistant of Rudi Garcia with the Belgian national team, compared Désiré Doué to Michael Jordan after the young striker became the leader of an offensive line composed of the Parisian, Bradley Barcola and Estéban Lepaul, in the absence of Kylian Mbappé and with Michael Olise or Ousmane Dembélé on the bench.

The phenomenon was dubbed “Croc love”, the unprecedented trio of Doué, Barcola and Lepaul occupying the right flank of the tricolour attack, a setup that delighted the former Rennes man.

Flamboyant praise from Jobard

“Every time I see him play, I feel like I’m watching Michael Jordan. I’m expecting a magic trick every time he touches the ball, I was blown away by his performance,” Jobard said in the pages of Le Parisien.

This high‑level performance could shake up the hierarchy if Zinédine Zidane decides to make many changes in the upcoming matches, Doué’s versatility allowing him to operate in all attacking positions.

However, the return of captain Kylian Mbappé to the next gathering, Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or status and the affection that Zinédine Zidane already seems to have for Michael Olise could limit Doué’s rise.
