Joao Felix vows Champions League comeback as he eyes European return

Portugal secured a win over Norway in the international break, with Joao Felix finding the net to seal the victory. The Portuguese forward’s goal underscored his continued importance for the national side and sparked his comments about a possible return to European football.

Felix shines in Saudi Arabia

Having joined Al Nassr a year ago, Felix has been described as the best player in the Saudi League. His record in the competition has been called ridiculous, reflecting the impact he has made since arriving in Riyadh.

During this international break he added a couple of goals for Portugal, backing his hot form at club level with decisive contributions on the international stage.

Speaking to Spanish daily AS, Felix said, “I am very happy at Al‑Nassr. This will be my second year. At the end of the season I will be 27.” He added that a return to Europe is on his mind, even if it does not happen immediately.

He continued, “I don’t know if it will be at the end of this season or the end of the next one, but I want to go back to Europe, play in the Champions League again and compete there.” He knows the European stage offers a different challenge and higher standards.

“Playing in Europe, playing in the Champions League, playing against the best teams in the world gives you extra motivation,” he explained, confirming the competition’s allure for him.

Felix acknowledged that his last few stops in Europe did not go well, so he will be cautious before trying again. He warned that it would be a shame to spend the rest of his career in Saudi Arabia without the chance to feature in the Champions League.
