Jesus steps in for Raphinha as Barcelona maintain perfect Liga run

Gabriel Jesus started in place of the injured Raphinha and scored the second goal as Barcelona defeated Getafe 3-0 at the Camp Nou, keeping their La Liga record intact after eight matches.

Super Data FIFA pause and squad changes

The league’s pause for the Super Data FIFA window and Raphinha’s absence did not slow Barcelona’s momentum. Hansi Flick, the German coach, made several alterations, resting key players and leaving Pau Cubarsí and Pedri on the bench.

Barcelona entered the match aware that Atlético de Madrid, the league’s vice‑leader, had just beaten Alavés 2-1, moving to 19 points and narrowing the Catalan club’s lead to five points.

Match dynamics and individual performances

Getafe, sitting in 13th place, are recognised for a solid defensive set‑up and are among the teams conceding the fewest goals, making the contest challenging for the hosts.

Jesus, the 29‑year‑old Brazilian, was quiet in the opening minutes but grew more active, drifting wide and contributing to the build‑up. His intensity was evident when he helped defend a Getafe counter‑attack before finding the net at the 30‑minute mark.

German coach Hansi Flick praised the striker, saying, "Gabriel Jesus is very strong in the area, very intense, and I have seen how he has developed with us. I am very happy with him in this position."

Aftermath and upcoming fixtures

Jules Koundé added a third goal in the second half, sealing the win. Jesus was substituted in the 35th minute and received applause from the home crowd.

Following the victory, Barcelona shift focus to the Champions League, travelling to face Galatasaray away on Tuesday in the second group‑stage round.
