Jesse Bisiwu Barcelona debut welcomed by club in La Liga
Belgium‑born winger Jesse Bisiwu, 18, officially became a Barcelona player on Tuesday, August 4, after completing his signing on July 31. The Ghanaian‑descent youngster praised the warm reception from his new teammates in Spain as he begins his La Liga career with optimism.
Barcelona unveiled the teenager on the same day, confirming the transfer that was finalized on July 31. The club described Bisiwu as a promising addition to the La Liga side.
“My first days have been wonderful. I have been welcomed by a wonderful family, and I'm very grateful for that,” Bisiwu said, adding that everyone at the club has been friendly.
He also said he is delighted to start a new chapter of his career in Spain. Bisiwu described arriving at Barcelona as a different feeling and expressed happiness to be there.
The right‑footed left winger arrives from Belgium’s Challenger Pro League, where he played for Club NXT. In that competition he made 36 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Bisiwu also featured in 14 UEFA Youth League matches, netting three goals and registering one assist, gaining valuable European youth experience.
He spent three seasons with Club NXT after joining from Club Brugge’s youth set‑up in July 2023. His earlier move to Club Brugge came three years before from the OH Leuven academy on a free transfer.
His arrival adds a young wide player to the Barca Athletic squad, bringing senior domestic and European youth competition experience despite his age. Barcelona sees his development as part of a long‑term project.
