Jeddeloh II sack Arambasic ahead of Hertha cup clash
In the modest floodlights of the 1,300‑inhabitant village of Jeddeloh, club officials gathered on Monday evening to announce a sudden change on the touchline, just weeks before the DFB‑Pokal tie with Hertha BSC. The announcement came as the fourth‑tier side, still reeling from heavy defeats, prepared for its first‑round opponent. Photo credit goes to Jens Doden.
Now one thing is Fakt: the fourth‑tier side has made a coaching decision. SSV Jeddeloh II confirmed that Kristian Arambasic is no longer in charge.
Coaching upheaval at Jeddeloh II
The club said the split was effective immediately, citing a string of heavy losses that have seen the team tumble into the relegation zone. Recent results include a 0‑4 defeat to Eintracht Norderstedt and a 2‑7 loss to SV V Drochtersen/Assel, leaving Jeddeloh on 17th place.
Arambasic, the 49‑year‑old who took the job at the start of the season, arrived from Oberliga side BSV SW Rehden. Alongside him, co‑coach Seyhan Adigüzel also departed. "We thank them for their commitment and regret the sporting development of the past weeks," the club read in a short statement on its website.
Bundesliga 2, Matchday 7: Hertha to continue where they left off?
Sporting director Olaf Blancke will step in on an interim basis as head coach, the club added. It also stressed that no talks with other coaches are being held at present.
Cup clash with Hertha on the horizon
Jeddeloh made headlines five weeks ago by beating 1. FC Heidenheim 5‑2 in the DFB‑Pokal, a shock that propelled them into the second round. Now they await Hertha BSC – the table‑leader of the 2. Bundesliga – for the upcoming cup tie scheduled for 28 October, with the venue still to be confirmed.
Hertha, often called the "Old Lady", enter the match unbeaten with six wins from six league games and will host SpVgg Greuther Fürth at the Olympiastadion the following weekend.
