Javier Tebas applauds Pitchwise's investment in Valencia CF
Sports journalist Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, has described the sale of 42 % of Valencia CF to Pitchwise Holdings as very positive, which brings in €100 million of new capital and values the club at €1.250 billion. In his opening remarks he said: “It is a very positive piece of news for Valencia CF and also for the whole city of Valencia.”
Details of the deal
The agreement, announced this Friday, gives Pitchwise Holdings a significant minority stake of 42 % of the club’s capital. The €100 million is added as fresh capital, available immediately for direct investment in Valencia CF. The deal places the club’s enterprise value at €1.250 billion.
Two years earlier, at the ninth Congress of Professional Sports Managers, Tebas had defended Peter Lim’s economic management, describing it as “perfect” and separating it from the sporting side. That assessment generated criticism among Valencia supporters. Since then, the LaLiga president has maintained a favourable stance towards the club’s financial direction.
Profile of the new partners
Pitchwise is backed by high‑profile figures: Greg Penner, chairman of Walmart, acting through Penner Sports Group, owner of the NFL’s Denver Broncos; and George Roberts and Henry Kravis, co‑founders and co‑executive chairs of KKR, a fund that controls Superstruct, owner of the Valencian promoter The Music Republic. These investors bring recognised experience in sports and financial management.
Valencia says Peter Lim sold 42 percent to Pitchwise €100 million
The Valencia CF statement indicates that the valuation includes both the men’s and women’s teams, the current Mestalla stadium and the new stadium project. According to the club, the deal reflects the strength and potential of all its assets.
The Lim family remains the majority shareholder and Kiat Lim continues as president, a role he has held since March 2025, when his father handed over the reins. The club has not yet specified the formal closing date nor whether the new partners will have a seat on the board of directors.
The €100 million of fresh capital will be available immediately, and the winter transfer window will be the first test of how much of that investment reaches the squad. Tebas has emphasized that the deal not only benefits Valencia, but also strengthens LaLiga’s image as an attractive competition for international investment.
According to the EFE agency, the LaLiga executive reiterated that this move validates the great work carried out at Valencia CF in recent years and once again highlights LaLiga as an economically sustainable competition for large‑scale long‑term international investment.
