Japanese duo spark Palace revival but loss persists at Ipswich
Crystal Palace fought back after being reduced to ten men, yet they still fell 2‑3 to Ipswich Town, while Japan’s Daichi Kamada recorded two assists and his national‑team partner Takehiro Tomiyasu supplied the decisive vertical pass that set up the equaliser.
Early dominance and setback
Kamada opened the scoring sheet in the 14th minute, threading a pass from the left flank to forward Anan Karahari, whose right‑foot strike gave Palace the lead. The midfielder has started every league match for the club in the first four fixtures of the season.
Ipswich levelled two minutes later, and the balance shifted when defender Accel Disasi was shown a red card in the 34th minute for a dangerous tackle. Manager then withdrew Jeremy Pino and introduced Takehiro Tomiyasu, leaving Palace to cope with ten men.
Palace managed to keep the score at 1‑1 until the closing stages of the first half, when Ipswich seized a go‑ahead goal to head into the break 1‑2. The visitors' strike came just before the halftime whistle, extending their lead.
Late comeback and decisive moments
In the 75th minute, Tomiyasu delivered a sharp vertical ball into the right half‑space; Kamada collected it and released Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose right‑foot finish restored parity at 2‑2. The assist marked Kamada’s second creation of the match, bringing his tally to two assists.
Ipswich responded five minutes later when Gianni Fleming scored in the 90th minute, securing a 3‑2 victory. The home side also brought on Japanese forward Daizen Maeda in the 18th minute of the second half, though he could not alter the outcome.
The encounter was the second consecutive game in which the Japan national‑team duo contributed directly to a goal, extending Kamada’s involvement to three straight official fixtures. His previous assist came against Middlesbrough, where he also found the net.
