Jamal Musiala trains – return only the weekend after next
Alexander Hassenstein of UEFA/GettyImages reported that Jamal Musiala, the 23‑year‑old attacking star of Bayern Munich, resumed individual training on Tuesday – the first step on the road to his comeback after a muscle injury. The injury, which he suffered on 24 September during the national team warm‑up against the Netherlands, was diagnosed as a muscle fibre tear.
Injury Course and Expected Absence Time
The tear in the right thigh was immediately classified as a muscle fibre tear. While some players can be available again after two weeks, the doctors expect Musiala to be out for at least three, more likely four weeks. Bayern Munich has not yet released a precise expected absence.
For many players with a similar tear, a return is possible after just two weeks, but the doctors anticipate a longer recovery period for Musiala. The decision is based on a precise assessment of his individual resilience.
Missed Games and Earliest Return Date
According to the information, Musiala can be back in the squad at the earliest on the weekend after next, which coincides with the match against Leipzig on 17 October. That would make him available again about three and a half weeks after the injury.
Musiala sustained the injury twelve days ago, on 24 September. Therefore he will miss the games against Augsburg on 10 October and against Viking Stavanger on 13 October. In the optimal case he could return to the squad on 17 October against Leipzig, i.e., three and a half weeks after the injury.
Already on 21 October, exactly four weeks after the injury, the Champions League clash against FC Arsenal takes place. If Musiala is still not fit by then, his comeback could be delayed until 25 October against Freiburg or at the latest 28 October in the DFB Cup against Magdeburg. By the meeting with Borussia Dortmund on 31 October he is expected to be fully fit.
Thus Musiala remains a central focus for Bayern Munich in the coming weeks, as the coach and medical staff carefully plan his return. An early re‑emergence in the squad could be decisive for the upcoming European and domestic fixtures.
