Jamal Amofa blames fireworks as Cambuur’s defeat spirals

Jamal Amofa opened the match with optimism as SC Cambuur surged forward, yet the game unraveled after fireworks from the Feyenoord stand forced a pause and culminated in a 2‑5 loss to Feyenoord.

Fireworks halt the match

The Cambuur-aanvoerder noted a powerful start, but after twelve minutes the encounter was temporarily stopped when fireworks erupted from the Feyenoord‑vak.

Speaking to after the final whistle, Amofa said, "Het is zo zonde," expressing his disappointment over the incident.

He added that the crowd had backed the team initially, but "Dan moet een groepje het verpesten," blaming a small group of Feyenoord-fans for ruining the atmosphere.

Amofa condemned the fireworks aimed at the home supporters, noting that several people were injured and that such actions detracted from the enjoyment of the game.

He acknowledged that the temporary stoppage negatively affected SC Cambuur, yet insisted it should not serve as an excuse for the defeat.

Despite the loss, Amofa highlighted progress, saying the men showed more patience, kept possession longer and applied better pressure, while stressing that the points remain essential.
