Italy, Mancini backs youngsters ahead of Belgium in Rome decisive clash

Italy's head coach Roberto Mancini spoke at a press conference, broadcast from, ahead of the clash with Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. He highlighted the importance of believing in the youngsters, mentioned Sandro Tonali's condition and emphasized the enthusiasm for the Nations League.

Line‑up choices and youngsters

Mancini outlined the possible line‑ups, pointing out two swing‑players and the versatility of Cambiaghi, able to cover multiple positions, as well as Kean and Zaniolo. The coach then spoke about the youngsters, citing Gigio and Barella: “They have qualities, in a match the level rises and they are young who can make mistakes at the beginning. We must believe in them because they are quality youngsters.”

Alessandro Romano, one of the observed youngsters, commented: “I knew him little, but after the first day he gave a good impression and so we wanted to see him. It wasn't easy, we believe he can be very useful for the national team's future.” He also mentioned the influence of Claudio Ranieri, who had had him in Rome.
