Isak leads Liverpool's victory in the Premier League opener

On Friday night, Liverpool won away at Ipswich Town 2‑0 in the third round of the Premier League 2026/27, with Alexander Isak scoring in the sixth and ninth minutes, both set up by Cody Gakpo. The Reds collected five points, while Ipswich had three.

Isak scores a brace and Gakpo creates

Alexander Isak opened the scoring in the sixth minute, completing the brace in the ninth, both from passes by Cody Gakpo. Ipswich's goalkeeper, Kjell Scherpen, tried to stop the first goal but could not prevent the second, which ended up hitting Jacob Greaves before going in. With the win, Liverpool adds five points, while Ipswich remains on three.

After the break, the Reds kept possession and controlled most of the game. However, the team was not very dangerous in attack, failing to create clear chances.

New debutants and signings

Bradley Barcola made his Premier League debut by coming on in the second half for Liverpool. The Frenchman arrived at the club last week, coming from Paris Saint‑Germain for a fee exceeding 100 million euros. Zian Flemming, newly transferred from Burnley, also debuted for Ipswich Town. Ryan Gravenberch came on as Isak's substitute, while Jeremie Frimpong remained on the bench for the entire match.

Florian Wirtz, German international, started the match for the home side, but had no direct involvement in goals. Isak had already scored a hat‑trick at Portman Road when he was playing for Newcastle United, and in this match he was caught offside before scoring again. In the German version of the report, the player is referred to as “Der Schwede Alexander Isak”.

The clash took place on Friday night at Portman Road, as part of the third round of the Premier League 2026/27. The news was initially released on Bola na Rede. It was Liverpool's first win of the campaign, consolidating the Reds' lead in the table.

The victory demonstrates the Swedish striker's immediate impact and the effectiveness of Gakpo's assists, offering a promising start to the Reds' season. With five points, Liverpool remains in the race for the top spots.
