Ipswich Town fill defensive gap with Chelsea full-back Jorja Fox
Ipswich Town have moved to plug a defensive void by securing Chelsea full-back Jorja Fox on a permanent deal, announced by the Tractor Girls this afternoon. The 23‑year‑old defender signs an initial one‑year contract, offering the club experience from the WSL and Champions League as they reshape their back line.
The signing marks Ipswich Town’s 13th acquisition of the summer transfer window, highlighting the club’s active recruitment as they prepare for a competitive season. Adding depth at full‑back aligns with the team’s broader squad‑building strategy.
One‑year deal sealed
Fox has agreed to an initial one‑year contract with Ipswich Town, a permanent move after several loan spells away from Chelsea. The deal gives the 23‑year‑old defender a stable platform to continue her development.
Fox entered the Chelsea academy at eight and progressed through every youth age group before making her senior debut for the Blues in the 2020/2021 season. Since then she has accumulated experience on loan at Charlton Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
Internationally, Fox has represented England from the youngest levels up to the Under‑23 side, adding a pedigree of youth international competition to her résumé. Her background includes appearances in the Women’s Super League and the Champions League.
After completing the move, Fox expressed her enthusiasm:
“I’m really excited to be here. The girls, staff and facilities all seem great and I can’t wait to get started,” Fox said after joining Ipswich Town. “The experiences I’ve had in the WSL and Champions League during my career so far have been so valuable and hopefully I can go on to achieve some great things here too.”
The addition of a player with top‑flight and European experience gives Ipswich Town a new option in defense as the club finalises its pre‑season preparations. The club will now integrate Fox into the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
