Inter target Alessandro Romano if Hakan Calhanoglu departs this summer
Inter is ready to add Alessandro Romano to its list of signings should Hakan Calhanoglu decide to leave the club this summer, according to the latest reports.
Inter wants Romano if Calhanoglu leaves
The Italian newspaper reports that the Nerazzurri have placed the young midfielder at the top of their wishlist, on the condition that the Turkish star leaves the club. It adds that Aleksandar Stankovic could also be transferred, opening further spaces in the squad.
Romano, a 20‑year‑old Italian‑Swiss, was bought by Cagliari on loan with an obligation to buy from Roma at the start of the 2026‑27 season. Despite having made only five appearances in Serie A, he has already scored on his debut as an attacking midfielder, attracting the attention of several European clubs.
Possible exits of Calhanoglu and Stankovic
Hakan Calhanoglu, whose contract expires on 30 June, has been linked to a return to Turkey, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce among the options. At 33 years old and among the highest earners of the club, the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu is considered likely. At the same time, Stankovic has not had opportunities since the return of Stankovic from Club Brugge and could be sold, with Brentford reportedly having offered €40 million for the 21‑year‑old.

Transfer rumours indicate that Premier League clubs also show interest in Romano, suggesting a potential move to England if the Nerazzurri situation stabilises.
The midfielder switched international allegiance in September, moving from Switzerland to Italy, and earned the first cap for the Italian national team during the long international break of September‑October, against Belgium.

The debut in the blue shirt came in a 2‑0 defeat, but the midfielder still confirmed the worth of the midfielder, enough to be placed on the wish list of Inter. If Calhanoglu and Stankovic were to leave, the chances of Romano arriving in Milan next summer increase considerably.
