Inter surprises Bruges youth with late twist in UEFA Youth League

In the cold stadium of San Siro the young players of Club NXT, the youth department of Club Brugge, faced Inter’s eleven. After a poor start and a goalkeeper who kept his team afloat, a substitute only came on in the final phase to make the difference.

Early setback for the Bruges youth

The match began with a shocking 26 seconds: Inter scored immediately via Anas El Mahboubi, who broke through on the right and put Christian Carrara in position. The ball flew past Thibeau Kestemont, giving the Bruges players a cold shower.

Inter remains dangerous, but the goalkeeper shines

Despite the early deficit Inter remained dangerous, with Vukaj and El Mahboubi applying pressure. The Bruges goalkeeper, Thibeau Kestemont, kept his team afloat with a series of fine saves, including a crucial attempt by Vukaj.

Club NXT seeks balance in the second half

After the break Club NXT tried to apply more pressure, but Inter still created chances. Piet Cremers was substituted and sent his team increasingly forward towards the end, keeping the match open.

Late twist: Jessi Da Silva brings level

In the 87th minute substitute Jessi Da Silva came on and from outside the penalty area struck the equaliser, giving Blue-Black a 1‑1 draw.

Result and continuation in the UEFA Youth League

Club NXT now has four points from two matches and remains unbeaten with four of the possible six points. On 21 October RC Lens will receive its next match in the UEFA Youth League.
