Inter salvage point as Martinez’s brace highlights first‑half attitude
Inter secured a valuable point after a 2‑2 draw with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, keeping both clubs unbeaten in Serie A. Lautaro Martinez’s second‑half brace rescued the Nerazzurri, but the Argentine warned that the first‑half attitude cost them in this Italian showdown.
First‑half dominance by the Giallorossi
Manu Kone opened the scoring for the Giallorossi and completed a first‑half brace after a VAR review confirmed his second goal.
Inter, accustomed to comebacks, responded when Martinez struck early in the second half and added a second tally later in the period, giving the Nerazzurri a 2‑2 equaliser.
“The first half was a disaster because we weren’t on the pitch, our attitude wasn’t right,” Martinez told via TMW, adding that the team changed its mentality in the second half.
Inter count on Calha's return as Serie A restarts on Saturday
He later explained, “It’s a question of attitude, of preparing for matches correctly. We do that, but we need to see how we start the matches because after that it becomes difficult.”
Both Inter and Roma remain unbeaten in Serie A, having won all their previous fixtures, and the draw leaves the championship race wide open.
Whether the point gives other competitors a chance to close the gap remains to be seen.
