Inter's €35m gamble: Djed Spence arrives as Dumfries departs

English right‑back Djed Spence has officially become an Inter player, arriving during the night of 13–14 August for a reported €35 million fee including bonuses. The 2000‑born winger is poised to start his Nerazzurri adventure in the Serie A opener against Monza on 22 August at San Siro, 18:30.

Fee and squad reshuffle

Inter paid €35 million, bonuses included, to secure Spence’s services. The transfer fills the vacancy left by Nathaniel Dumfries, who departed for Real Madrid.

Spence signed a long‑term deal that runs until 2031, guaranteeing his stay at the Milan stadium for the foreseeable future. The agreement includes a substantial salary package reflecting his potential impact.

Recent playing record and international experience

Before joining Inter, Spence spent six months at Genoa in 2024, featuring from January to June and making 16 appearances. He also represented England at the World Cup, playing from the first minute in four of the eight matches.

Born in 2000, the Englishman can operate on either flank as a right‑ or left‑wing‑back, offering tactical flexibility to the coach.

In the previous season he logged 44 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, though he did not register a goal. His defensive work rate and crossing ability remain his primary assets.

Inter confirmed Spence will be available for the Serie A debut against Monza on 22 August at San Siro, 18:30. Fans can watch all Serie A action on Enilive in exclusive Sky venues, as highlighted by La dello Sport.
