Inter Milán’s firm stand blocks Barça’s chase for Lautaro Martínez

With just ten days left before the transfer window closes, Inter Milán have sent a clear message to Barça: Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez is not for sale. The club, fresh from a Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid, reiterated that their captain will remain a cornerstone of the project.

Europa Press reported that El Inter Milán have made clear that with only ten days remaining before the transfer window shuts, they will not entertain any offers for Lautaro Martínez. The Argentine forward, who featured in the Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid, remains a non‑negotiable asset for the Nerazzurri.

Barça have turned their attention to the Argentine striker to fill a priority centre‑forward role after the departures of Lewandowski and Ferran. Julian Álvarez was initially the target, but Atlético Madrid’s refusal to negotiate has elevated Lautaro as a viable alternative.

Chivu stresses Lautaro’s future

Cristian Chivu, the Nerazzurri coach, was unequivocal on Friday ahead of the league opener against Monza. “We want him to stay, although the market is always bastard,” he said, adding that the next ten days will be filled with talk about the captain. “I am not here to discuss the market, I am here to talk about Monza. Lautaro is the captain,” Chivu explained, insisting that great players often face unwanted attention but he believes Lautaro will remain at Inter for many years.

Inter count on Calha's return as Serie A restarts on Saturday

Inter’s strategy aligns with the club’s long‑term plan: Lautaro renewed his contract in August 2024, extending it to 30 June 2029. The extension cements his status as a cornerstone of the Nerazzurri project.

Beyond being the leading scorer, Lautaro serves as captain and a symbol of a side that enters the new season as reigning Serie A champions. His leadership is viewed as essential for defending the Scudetto.

With only days remaining, the transfer market can still produce unexpected twists, yet Inter’s message remains unequivocal: Lautaro Martínez is their captain, franchise striker and fundamental piece of the project.
