Inter Chivu hails youth after City shootout in Hong Kong

After Inter’s triumph in a penalty shootout against Manchester City in Hong Kong, head coach Cristian Chivu praised the progress of the club’s Primavera youngsters, noting their performance on Inter TV and hinting at the next challenges in Australia against Milan and Juventus.

Inter continues its summer preparation with encouraging signals, building momentum ahead of the overseas tour.

Dopo the success on penalties against Manchester City in the friendly staged in Hong Kong, Cristian Chivu analysed the squad on Inter TV, focusing on the many young players who featured.

"The young can and must do better, like the whole team. For them it is only the beginning, they are starting to taste high‑level football, but they must always think they can improve. It always starts from this, from a correct attitude and the desire to show they can play at high levels," Chivu said.

He added, "With them we need a bit of patience because in certain situations we still see a lack of experience at certain tempos of play. They have a lot to learn, but they are doing an excellent job and give us a great contribution."

Looking ahead, Chivu stressed, "We want good training and to grow in condition for the next matches, because matches are always the best training. We must stay healthy and avoid injuries: in August, with these long trips, that is the primary goal."

The tour now moves to Perth, where the Nerazzurri will face two high‑level tests that will allow Chivu to further assess the group’s growth.
