Inter chase Spurs defender Romero as Spence exit leaves gap

Tottenham midfielder Cristian Romero is being linked with Serie A side Inter as the Italian club looks to fill the defensive void left by the departure of Djed Spence. Inter have identified a need for a robust centre‑back and see Romero as a potential solution.

Inter have officially given up on signing Tottenham’s Djed Spence, yet they continue to pursue another Spurs player in Cristian Romero despite the London club’s hefty price tag. The shift underscores Inter’s desire to reinforce their back line without relying on Spence.

Alfredo Pedulla has reported contact between Romero’s entourage and Inter, confirming that discussions are underway. Images of a meeting between the parties have also emerged, suggesting talks are progressing in a full‑blown manner.

The talks have involved agent Vincent Casella, with Inter meeting him to discuss Romero’s possible move. Inter view Romero as a key target, which explains the direct engagement with his representative.

A deal, however, is expected to be very expensive and Inter will struggle to meet TOttenham’s price tag unless Alessandro Bastoni departs. The high valuation places significant financial pressure on the Italian side.

Bastoni has attracted interest from the Middle East, a deal that appears complex, making other clubs a more realistic option for Romero. This external interest adds another obstacle to Inter’s pursuit of the Tottenham defender.
