Injury stalls Club Brugge defender, yet PSG and Tottenham press on

Joel Ordonez (Ordoñez)’s broken middle metatarsal has sparked speculation that the 22‑year‑old (Ecuadoriaanse defender) might simply finish the season at Club Brugge’s Jan Breydel Stadium, yet Paris Saint‑Germain and Tottenham Hotspur have already lodged concrete offers despite the injury.

The fracture of the right foot’s middle metatarsal forced Ordonez out of the Super Cup and delayed his season debut. Recent weeks therefore suggested a higher likelihood that he would remain at Club Brugge rather than move abroad. Club Brugge have set a €40 million price tag on the defender.

Foreign clubs keep pressing

Nevertheless, top foreign clubs continue to press; Ook De interest from other clubs persists. Both Paris Saint‑Germain and Tottenham Hotspur have been identified as the leading suitors. Liverpool FC was also linked but appears to have stepped back after the injury, despite having considered the 20‑time Ecuadoriaans international. Tottenham’s interest was confirmed by reports of a possible Premier League move.

PSG’s stance

PSG did not let the injury deter them and remained undeterred in early August. The French club has not yet matched the €40 million asking price.

Tottenham Hotspur has signalled a desire to advance the deal and is prepared to invest heavily. The English side, like any interested party, will need to dig deep into its finances to secure the player. Tottenham’s interest in Ordo remains strong.

Transfermarkt estimates Ordonez’s market value at €33 million, below the club’s asking price. This valuation is lower than the €40 million price tag set by Club Brugge.

Medical tests are expected, but Ordonez may not be fit to play again until October. The summer transfer window remains open for Ordonez despite his injury.
