Idrissa Gueye and Lucas Leiva join Le Mans' shareholders group

According to reports, in the stadium of Le Mans, Idrissa Gueye, 36, former PSG midfielder still active at Al‑Diriyah, and Lucas Leiva, 39, former Brazilian international who played for Liverpool, Lazio and the Seleçao, have injected their capital into the club, thus joining the circle of shareholders already composed of Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa, Thibaut Courtois and Kevin Magnussen.

A star‑studded shareholding

The group of shareholders of Le Mans FC already includes personalities from international sport. Novak Djokovic, the tennis champion, Felipe Massa, the former Formula 1 driver, Thibaut Courtois, Belgian goalkeeper, and Kevin Magnussen, Formula 1 driver, joined it a few months earlier. All are associated with the project backed by OutField, the Brazilian investment fund that became the majority shareholder of the club in February.

The ambitions of Gueye and Leiva

Le Mans FC was not actively seeking new investors, but the club remained attentive to strategic opportunities. The profiles of Gueye and Leiva fit this logic, offering valuable links with Africa and Brazil. The amounts invested have not been made public.

Idrissa Gueye, 36, earned 135 caps with the Lions of the Teranga. By joining the project, he will be able to strengthen relations between Le Mans, already firmly connected to Brazil via OutField, and the African continent, especially Senegal. Since 2025, he has been leading the ForHope Campus, a training centre that combines sport and education, aiming to develop young footballers while ensuring their academic support.

Lucas Leiva, 39, played notably for Liverpool, Lazio and the Seleçao before retiring. His involvement at Le Mans FC should focus on scouting and recruitment, bringing his experience and his network. Pedro Oliveira, president of the club, said: “It is always good to be afraid” to underline the importance of this new phase.
